An innovative tracking system combined with a Sunways photovoltaic system consisting of OutputPlus+ Solar Modules and PT series central inverters achieve unrivalled energy production.
Rather like cable cars, the highly efficient Sunways modules are aligned over a total distance of 310 metres along a control cable driven by an electric motor. Every ten minutes the module carriers are adjusted to follow the course of the sun. The Sunways PT 30k central inverters are mounted on intermediate supports spaced 40 metres apart. Between January and August 2009 this system produced over 20% higher yield than the average non-tracking PV system.
Construction of the system was commissioned by Stadtwerke Waldshut-Tiengen municipal authority and Lonza Group AG. 2,880 Sunways modules and 21 PT 30k Solar Inverters produce a peak output of 648 kWp.
