Honoured with a visit from a top ranking official: federal minister Wolfgang Tiefensee himself opened the new “Plus energy house” in Munich – a transportable exhibition pavilion based on the theme of “energy-efficient building and modernisation”. The functional lightweight construction was originally designed for the international Decathlon competition in 2007 and was then developed further within the scope of a Federal Ministry of Construction research project. A particularly innovative element of the “Plus energy house” is the covered veranda incorporating 8 transparent Sunways Solar Modules.

Thanks to the integrated Sunways Solar Cells, the veranda roof element can assume a number of functions: it not only provides all the power used in the house, but also feeds green electricity into the grid, with eight megawatt hours of excess power per annum having been generated to date. Additionally, the transparent roof elements of the PV system regulate the daylight, provide shade, act as a screen and protect not only against sun and glare but also heat and noise.

Federal minister Wolfgang Tiefensee: “I can only recommend a visit to the Plus energy house. Benefit from the consulting opportunity and be inspired.” The “Plus energy house” will be exhibited in various German cities over the next two years within the scope of a travelling exhibition.
