Ludesch community centre, Austria: Good for the environment and the community.
People arriving at the village square in Ludesch are certainly met with a big surprise: for they unexpectedly find themselves standing before an exemplary ecological structure with a photovoltaic roof that is currently the largest photovoltaic system with transparent solar cells in the whole of Austria. 350 m² of solar modules encompassing transparent Sunways Solar Cells were used for the community centre, whereby additional costs to cover the ecological measures undertaken – including the PV roof covering the Ludesch village square – amounted to just 10%. These costs are offset by land and federal subsidies as well as a decent annual profit from the solar electricity feed-in tariff.
The massive PV roof incorporating 120 high-performance modules with transparent Sunways Solar Cells offers numerous benefits: in addition to the lucrative generation of power, the village square is also protected from rain and excessive sunshine. The translucent photovoltaic modules only allow around 18 percent of the sun’s rays to pass through, thus providing a pleasant and optimally lit living and working environment right in the centre of Ludesch.
Optimal output thanks to state-of-the-art PV technology from Sunways: with its transparent Sunways Solar Cells, the 350-m² photovoltaic roof over the Ludesch village square generates around 16,000 kilowatt hours of green electricity annually.
